Kemira Oyj has appointed Tuomas Mäkipeska as its new chief financial officer and member of the group leadership team, effective today.
He will succeed Petri Castrén, who will leave the company as previously announced. Mäkipeska joins Kemira from YIT Oyj, where he has served as CFO, EVP, and deputy to the CEO since 2021.
Besides this appointment, Kemira has enriched its management team by one hire this year, adding Ulrika Dunker as executive vice president of people and culture, based on Listeds data.
Before joining YIT, Mäkipeska spent nearly a decade at Lassila & Tikanoja Oyj in several leadership positions, including CFO and interim president & CEO, and previously worked as a management consultant at Deloitte. He holds a master’s degree from the Helsinki School of Economics.
Kemira’s President and CEO, Antti Salminen, said in a press release in October that Mäkipeska’s extensive experience in finance, investor relations, IT, and business leadership will strengthen the company’s strategic execution and long-term growth. Mäkipeska expressed enthusiasm about joining Kemira and contributing to its sustainability-focused strategy.
Kemira is a global leader in sustainable chemical solutions for water-intensive industries. In 2024, Kemira reported annual revenue of EUR 2.9 billion with a global team of some 4,700 colleagues.
