Yrjö Eskola, senior vice president, postal services, has been appointed chief operations officer at Posti Group, effective April 1, 2026, where he will lead the company’s Astra renewal program.
Eskola will continue in his current SVP role while joining the effort to integrate distribution networks across postal services and e-commerce & delivery services in Finland into a single unit, the Nordic logistics and postal services provider announced today.
Besides this appointment, Posti has added one management team member this year, hiring Kaj Kulp as an SVP of strategy and business development, according to Listeds data.
Amid declining paper mail volumes and rising parcel deliveries, Posti is updating its operations with the Astra program, which focuses on combining separate distribution networks into one unified system in Finland. By merging postal and parcel delivery operations and aligning support functions, the goal is to create synergies, reduce costs, and achieve about EUR 40 million in efficiency savings by 2029.
The Astra program also brings production, procurement, real estate, HSEQ, and ICT and digitalization under the same umbrella, with Director of ICT and Digitalization Petteri Naulapää set to report to Eskola.
“The long-term objective is to respond to the accelerating market transformation and ensure competitiveness,” said President and CEO Antti Jääskeläinen.
