Metsä Board Corporation, a leading European producer of premium fresh fibre paperboards that is part of Metsä Group, will reshuffle its leadership team as of March 1, 2026, including widened chief financial officer duties. 

Jussi Noponen, currently senior vice president, production and supply chain, has been appointed executive vice president of Metsä Wood, part of Metsä Group, the company announced today. He will remain in his current role at Metsä Board until February 28. 

Laura Remes, previously SVP, business transformation, will succeed him as SVP, production and supply chain.

At the same time, incoming CFO Anssi Tammilehto, who starts on January 26, will assume responsibility for transformation activities in addition to his finance role.

Chief Executive Esa Kaikkonen, who joined the paperboard maker last year, thanked Noponen for his contribution. “Jussi has made a significant and longstanding contribution to the development of Metsä Board, and I wish him every success in his new role.” 

Kaikkonen added that “Laura Remes brings strong experience in leading production, supply chain and transformation initiatives,” while Tammilehto’s appointment “strengthens our leadership model at a time when execution and long-term value creation are in focus.”
