If you could go back in time and give the "younger you" some advice, what would you say?

If you could go back in time and give the "younger you" some advice, what would you say?

I didn’t listen much to advice when I was young. I looked up to a lot of people and learned from their wisdom. But I also just embarked on new initiatives, learning through trial and error. In many areas, I was naïve and misguided. I don’t think the young should be too much concerned with “advice”. Ignore the old. Sure, always be learning! But more importantly, always be doing. Don’t worry about mistakes. Accept that you are incomplete and you are evolving. Don’t worry, be crappy. The more you have agency and drive, the faster you will evolve. It’s all about your own growth. It’s all inside you already. You are powerful.

Don’t spend too much time worrying about the future and trying to perfect a strategy. It is the execution that counts in the end. Better to get the strategy 80% correct and start to execute; one can always course correct later. When everything is said and done, more needs to be done than said.

Don’t wait to feel ready, you won’t. The fastest way to grow is to say yes before you're 100% sure, and then figure it out as you go.

Be yourself. Believe that your practical experience is a strength, not a problem, even if your environment makes you think it is something you should erase. Combine your experience from psychology, art, and business already at the beginning, when you have your first inspiration to do it. Don’t wait years until you have ‘permission’ to fully connect those experiences.

Get to know yourself earlier. The moment you understand who you are (your passions, your values, your strengths, and your weaknesses), you gain clarity and confidence. You start focusing on what truly matters to you. And the only way to really know yourself is to try things, give yourself time to think, and write. Explore. Say yes to challenges. Do the hard things. Every experience teaches you something new. And the best part is that you’re never “ready”. The journey continues throughout your life.
