Bittium Corporation announced that its subsidiary, Bittium Wireless Ltd, has signed a ten-year framework agreement with the Finnish and Swedish defense forces to supply and develop command-and-control (C4I) systems.
C4I systems are integrated military technologies that enable armed forces to plan, direct, coordinate, and control military operations by linking commanders, troops, sensors, and weapons systems through secure and real-time communication networks.
The deal enables the procurement of Bittium’s tactical communication systems, software-defined radios, and secure software and phones, reinforcing Nordic defense cooperation.
The agreement, signed by Tommi Kangas, Major General Tero Ylitalo, and Johan Andersson, promotes interoperability, cost efficiency, and joint product development. Norway and Denmark may later join the framework. Finnish Minister of Defence Antti Häkkänen emphasized the benefits of shared defense procurement and improved operational cooperation.
“Developing command-and-control systems in cooperation with Sweden strengthens our defence capability and improves the interoperability of our troops. Joint solutions enable efficient information exchange and decision-making in all operational domains. This agreement is a step towards even closer Nordic defence cooperation,” said Major General Tero Ylitalo, chief of the Finnish Defence Forces Logistics Command.
